With 20 years of experience in Fintech and TMT across EMEA and APAC, Tao has held leadership roles at Alibaba’s Alipay and Ashmore, driving multi-billion-dollar revenues and expanding into 35 markets. He executed three M&A deals valued at over $1 billion and overseen payment and investment regulations like PSD2 and MiFID2. Specializing in e-Wallets and Embedded Finance, he’s advised top consulting firms, including MBB, and served as a board advisor for several businesses. A ten-year angel investor with one unicorn in his portfolio, he founded Up VC, a Eurasian Fintech venture capital firm, in 2023. Tao has completed executive programs at Harvard and Cambridge business schools and earned the maximum scholarship for Warwick’s EMBA program.
