Speaker Q&A

What can we look forward to from your session at PAY360?

An overview of some of the emerging trends in payment acceptance and customer experience and what these trends mean for the merchant checkout

Why is the topic important to you and your company? And why is the topic so important now?

Commerce is blending nowadays so it is vital to think omnichannel and not in siloes. The ways that consumers pay and where they pay is undergoing a shift and retailers must think innovatively to win in an increasingly competitive field. At Trust Payments, we believe that Converged Commerce™ is the future – one where customers get the best experience possible through digitization, and whether in-store on online, payments are truly made easy.

Where are the industry challenges & pain points in the Payments area? How can these be overcome?

We are at a tipping point where some businesses are more ahead of the curve than others without actually owning the services themselves – think of uber or Airbnb. Tech giants are fuelling payments, but Converged Commerce™ offers the opportunities for all sorts of businesses to think omnichannel and take a multipronged approach to dealing with changing customer habits. Regulation and compliance are the other big challenges that frequently change. It is vital to make sure that any technology can prove its relevance in delivering these important issues and not putting any retailer in a high risk position.

Where are the opportunities?

Converged Commerce™ is the future here. Being omnichannel means that as more businesses move online and more businesses adopt electronic payments, there is a tremendous opportunity to help merchants provide an experience that will meet their customer’s expectations to be able to pay in any way that they want, at any time and in any place.

Where do you see the industry going with this in the future?

Digital currencies are becoming more and more popular and the race to be able to accept payments in this method are only going to accelerate in the imminent future. This is a core part of our Converged Commerce™ proposition – helping merchants to provide on-demand Payments and Banking-as-a-Service services that will help businesses to grow and scale online, in-store, and on mobile.

If we could grant you three wishes, what would they be?

On a personal note, I wish for Donegal to win the All-Ireland Gaelic Football Championship!

At Trust Payments, we are wishing for omnichannel to be the default payment mindset across all commerce providers

And for Central Bank Digital Currencies to be more widely accepted and help speed up digital transactions and boost privacy in payments – more convenience and accessibility too.
