Chris is Head of Market Interventions – Payments, responsible for the supervision of 1,400 payment and e-money firms in the UK.  He joined the FCA from the Bank of England in 2016, where he prudentially supervised international banks, particularly those in crisis, and oversaw solvent wind down planning at the largest investment banks.  During his time at the FCA, Chris has led the supervision of the financial advice and wealth management sectors, headed up the specialist prudential and client assets functions, and led the programme of work to improve the FCA’s supervision model.  He also developed the FCA’s internal Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy, which was agreed and adopted in June 2022.  Chris is from Sydney, Australia, and moved to the UK in 2002.  His early career was in Australian federal politics, the credit union industry and policing oversight.
