“Barclays is excited to be a Strategic Partner of this year’s PAY360 conference. The payments industry continues to rapidly evolve and we see the conference as an excellent opportunity to engage further with the industry. We look forward to joining the speaker line-up and connecting virtually with many of you at the event.”
- What can we look forward to from your session at PAY360 Digital?
I will explore what is happening in the world of payments from a Corporate Banking point of view. The payments market is so dynamic at the moment with a number of different drivers of change at play simultaneously, among them technological advances, big geo-political topics like Brexit and of course Covid-19. I will be looking at what the impact has been on wholesale payments, especially from COVID, and zoom in on corporate clients and their treasury teams, as well as what it has meant to them. Additionally, we will look at what themes have been accelerated by Covid-19 and what key drivers of change will look like going forward.
- Why is the topic important to you and your company?/Why is the topic so important now?
Barclays is a global universal bank, with a strong heritage in the UK. Despite being an established player in traditional banking, have been very involved in the FinTech community for many years and have been helping both our corporate and financial institutions clients build or expand their business through partnerships with the FinTech sector. A lot of the topics discussed in my presentation are very relevant to us as a provider of payments and cash management services, as an active contributor to the payments community both in the UK and globally, and as a product management team that is delivering exciting, robust and transparent payments solutions to our clients.
- If you had a magic wand what would you change?
I would start by getting rid of Covid-19 so we can be back on a real stage, to present and debate these topics in person again. But since I do not actually have a magic wand, and we are all still going to be more or less stuck in our various socially distanced (home) offices, I am very excited to be part of this Virtual Pay360.
