Ian is the CIO Payments Technology for the NatWest Banking Group. Accountable for the run, change and continuous availability of payments as a systemically critical participant in the industry. Ian is focused on modernisation and transformation of the technology estate, collaborating with the business to continuously improve each customer journey and investing in team culture. Ian joined the Global Board of Directors of SWIFT in 2022 and serves on the Board and is a Trustee of Charities Trust in the UK.
Prior to NatWest, Ian was CIO Payments Services at Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) where he led the delivery of CBA’s successful launch for the New Payments Platform (Australia’s Instant Payments scheme). Before CBA, Ian worked for PayPal in San Jose, California leading the delivery of a Tokenisation platform on which Ian holds a joint Patent.
